OH BOY A TEST

Are you still wondering what this is all about?  Here is a special quiz to take that will help you answer that question.

Do you have rooms that need a little “something” to make them feel inviting?

  1. Are you having trouble blending your older furnishings with new purchases?
  2. Are you moving into a smaller home, and not sure what to take or leave?
  3. Do you have a house for sale that is not moving fast enough?
  4. Do you have a rental property that needs updating?
  5. Do you need help getting settled in your new home with hanging artwork, furniture placement and space planning?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions call for a consultation – sometimes we all need to turn to someone else for a fresh idea.  The Redesigning Woman is filled with fresh ideas.

                              LET’S START WITH COLOR

Do you need some color in your life?  Would you like to revive your walls and make them pop or would you like to create a feeling of cool relaxation?  Nothing personalizes a home more than adding color to your walls whether it is in painting, papering, photographs or artwork.  If the thought of adding color to your walls sends you into a frenzy of worry, well start with some new pillows on your sofa or a colorful throw over the arm of a chair.

It is basically about matching your personality with your favorite colors and finding ways to combine the hues you love.

Did you know you see colors with your heart and not your head?  I wore pink student nursing uniforms for three years straight 5 days a week. I do not wear pale pink to this day because I always see those really tacky student uniforms. While my heart was truly into becoming an RN, my head says no to pale pink in my house.

Color has the power to put you in a variety of different moods and let’s go to the language of color.

  • Pink:  soothes, acquiesces, promotes affability and affection.
  • Yellow:  expands, cheers, increases energy.
  • White:  purifies, energizes, unifies, enlivens all colors
  • Black:  disciplines, authorizes, strengthens, encourages independence
  • Orange:  cheers, commands, stimulates appetites, conversation and charity.
  • Red:  empowers, stimulates, dramatizes, competes, symbolizes passion.
  • Green:  balances, normalizes, refreshes, encourages emotional growth.
  • Purple:  comforts, spiritualizes, creates mystery and draws out intuition.
  • Blue:  relaxes, refreshes, cools, produces tranquil feelings and peaceful moods.

Now at least I know why my nursing school chose the color pink.

I encourage you to take a look around at your favorite places in your home and you will start to see your color personality.  That is the first step I ask you to take when I come into a home to do a color consult.  I want to know your color personality because it is going to be different from mine.  When I open my paint cases and thousands of colors spill out from multitudes of fan decks, I guarantee you will find your color personality.  From that color that just feels right to you will be the start of an added dimension to your home.

Yes, color choices can be daunting, but with my expertise and your personality we can discover together how to change a plain room into one that reflects your feelings and speaks to you whenever you walk in.
